Progress Update Q2 2019
Core Team Moves To Establish Non-Profit Foundation
As the core team prepares to enter the project into its next phase of development, the appropriate steps must be taken to ensure the core team stays true to their mission. One of the main tasks the core team faces, the fundamental root of blockchain, is making sure its network participants receive total transparency. Additionally, as highlighted in the whitepaper, the core team has recognized the importance of giving back. Helping those less fortunate and granting the ability to “self-bank” has remained a constant priority in the creation of a fully functioning payment solution.
To achieve this, the core team has taken the initial steps required to establish a Foundation which will provide appropriate oversight and governance to the project. The Foundation will also ensure the core team has the proper resources to provide the best service possible for fostering the growth of the Dimecoin Network and achieving its mission.
Moving Forward
Development of the project will not cease and will continue as planned. Over the next several months, the remaining steps will be taken to set up the Foundation. Setup will conclude with formally filing to be recognized by the state of Florida and all necessary government entities. As the procedures, policies, and final makeup of the Foundation are finalized, we will continue to update the community.
Quarterly Updates
In efforts to increase transparency, and keep the community informed, the core team will release quarterly updates that will cover a broad range of topics, including ongoing developments. Look for these updates to be released in the last week of the expiring quarter to the first week of the new quarter.
Masternodes/Proof of Stake(POS) Integration
The core team had initially hoped there would only be a slight delay with integrating the new consensus mechanism. However, it is taking longer than anticipated. The setback from suffering the 51% attack was far more significant than we anticipated. Nevertheless, development continues to focus on finalizing the new consensus mechanism. When the time comes, we will be opening up testnet to the public. Look for updates regarding the release of testnet if you are interested in participating.
iOS Wallet
We have started internally testing the fixes which have been applied to the iOS wallet. Anyone who previously used the iOS wallet and is willing to help do some testing, please write an email to support@dimecoinnetwork.com.
Cryptopia Latest
Recently, one of our community members brought to our attention the efforts of Chaincreator and The Collective to purchase Cryptopia. Their goal is to reimburse user’s assets that were unaffected by the attack and reopen a decentralized exchange. The core team has successfully made contact with Chaincreator and has expressed interest in supporting their initiative. Once the formal paperwork (non-disclosure agreements, etc.) is completed, the core team is hoping to determine the role they can play in these efforts going forward.
It is important to note that the liquidation process and bankruptcy proceedings are expected to take months, rather than days to conclude. The core team will continue to keep the community informed of new developments and explore all available options which advocate for the return of unaffected assets to their user’s accounts.
